Originally designing in the abstract and austere style of orthodox Modernism, in the late 1970s Michael Graves rejected this Modernist expression and began seeking a larger, Post-modernist vocabulary. Acclaimed for his ironic interpretation of traditional forms. It is this sensibility that has projected Graves to a star among designers, as can be seen in his many designs for Alessi that clearly depict a “new Americana.” The A09 Kitchen Timer as designed by Michael Graves is a wonderful classic piece that features many different finish/color options and is made from 18/10 stainless steel and ABS plastic with mechanical movement. It blends especially well with many coffee makers, cups, creamers and sugar bowls also designed by Michael Graves for Alessi.
