Stefano Giovannoni and Guido Venturini are the design team known as King Kong. The designs that were first made were of a very straightforward tray which had its edges perforated with a little man motif, like the ones children cut out with scissors. The Girotondo project went ahead without any particular hitches or special enthusiasm: nobody could have imagined this would become Alessi’s best-selling tray! This playful cartoon language made its mark on design in the early 90s.
