Follow the instructions, but add just a little more water than recommended. Makes perfect rice every time.
If I soak the brown rice for 5 - 10 minutes it tastes better and comes out of the bowl very easily. Same for wild rice.

I love this little rice cooker. I have cooked white, brown and wild rice. I use 3 cups water to 1 cup rice for the brown and it comes out perfect. The cookbook doesn't say to, but I add boullion, some chopped vegetables, other seasonings sometimes.
