I ordered this because I hate the mess that I used to make when trying to dispense batter into muffin tins/wrappers and the uneven results of pancakes. This dispenser works pretty well for keeping things neat. It leaks a little bit if you leave it sitting with batter in it, especially thinner batter, but it's worth it. Also, filling the barrel is a bit of a challenge--the directions say to turn it upside down, which poses a balancing issue since the plunger is on that side.
Clean-up can be a bit tiresome as there are several pieces to this gadget and because the plastic on the barrel is thin, I'm just waiting until I break it when I'm trying to take it apart. The metal on the barrel is basically an unneeded piece--the notches on it that hold the ends on could have been put on the plastic tube that holds the batter--eliminating the metal piece entirely. The description says it's dishwasher safe, but I haven't actually tested that yet.
In general, I'd be happier if the price was lower, but so far I'm happy with this purchase.
