In Tilden Lace dinnerware, O'Brien adopts an unusual vertical field design for a modern shift away from customary concentric china patterns. A matrix of delicate crisscrossing lines is punctuated by quartets of dots, a motif that originates in textile thinking, for a light and airy "woven" type of geometry. Alternating centers and rims of pattern create a graphic positive-negative effect on the table.
